Acceptable Use Policy

Lifehosty is shared hosting, so one account's actions can affect every other customer on the same server. These rules protect everyone.

Last updated: 28 September 2026

Zero tolerance for spam, phishing and malware. Accounts involved in any of these are suspended immediately, because they can get our servers blacklisted and harm every other customer.

1. Content you cannot host

  • Anything illegal under Indian law, or that helps others break the law.
  • Child sexual abuse material. This is reported to the authorities.
  • Pornographic or sexually explicit content.
  • Phishing pages, or websites that imitate a bank, brand, government body or other organisation to deceive people.
  • Content that infringes copyright, trademarks or other intellectual property, including pirated software, films, music and nulled themes or plugins.
  • Content that promotes terrorism or violence, or threatens or harasses people.
  • Scams and fraud, including fake shops, Ponzi and investment schemes, and fake lotteries.
  • Online gambling, betting and unlicensed sale of regulated goods such as drugs and weapons.
  • Hacking tools, exploit kits, or content that teaches people to attack systems.

2. Email and spam

  • Do not send unsolicited bulk email (spam), from our servers or from anywhere else to promote a website hosted with us.
  • Only email people who have agreed to receive messages from you. Purchased, rented or scraped email lists are not allowed.
  • Every marketing email must include your identity and a working unsubscribe link.
  • Each account has an hourly limit on outgoing email. Use a dedicated email-marketing service for newsletters and bulk campaigns.
  • Do not forge email headers or hide where a message came from.

3. Security and network abuse

  • Do not host or spread malware, viruses, ransomware or botnet software.
  • Do not scan, probe, attack or try to break into other systems, including other Lifehosty accounts and servers.
  • Do not run denial-of-service attacks or send floods of traffic.
  • Do not try to get around your account's resource limits or access another customer's data.

4. Server resource abuse

These activities overload shared servers and are not allowed on any plan:

  • Cryptocurrency mining.
  • Torrent clients, trackers or seeding.
  • Proxy servers, VPNs and anonymising services.
  • Game servers, chat (IRC) servers and bots.
  • File-sharing, image-hosting and download-mirror websites.
  • Using storage as a backup archive or file store unrelated to your websites.
  • Long-running background processes, except the Node.js and Python apps included in your plan and run through cPanel.

See our Fair Usage Policy for how resource limits work.

5. Keeping your site secure

You are responsible for keeping your websites secure. Keep WordPress, themes and plugins updated, remove ones you do not use, and use strong passwords. If your website is hacked and starts sending spam or hosting malware, we will suspend it to protect the server and help you clean it up before restoring it.

6. How we enforce this policy

  • Spam, phishing, malware and attacks: immediate suspension, followed by an email explaining what we found.
  • Other breaches: we contact you first and give you reasonable time to fix the problem.
  • Serious or repeated breaches: permanent termination with no refund, as set out in our Refund Policy.
  • We may remove specific files or content that break this policy, and we cooperate with law enforcement when required by law.

7. Reporting abuse

To report spam, phishing, malware or illegal content on a Lifehosty server, email [email protected] with the website address and any evidence, such as full email headers or screenshots. For complaints under the IT Rules, contact our Grievance Officer at [email protected].
